Speedflying Gr. Pyhrgas

May 24th, 2010

hi hike and fly addicts.
This day was the day of the weekend.
patrik, harry and me we drove to spital / pyhrn for speedflying.
we hiked up to the grosser pyhrgas that has a height of 2244m above sealevel.
after 2 hours of walking we had some “good” northwesterly wind.
we found some starting place.
we ran down and after 2 steps we fly away. what an amazing feeling when you have so much air under you….. brrrrrr – no words to explain.
we did a machine gun start with about 20 seconds between each speedflyer.
it was a nice flight with 1604metres of altidude difference and it took us 11minutes.
thx for harry who showed us the speedflying and gave us the essential safety feeling and motivation.
then patrik and me we said let’s do it a second time. so we hiked up again to the mountain top of the grosser pyhrgas and had some low up wind at the top.
i reached a really good upwind in the middle of the valley. near me there was also one cloud. you can imagine the really nice upwind. i had really hard work to manage the different wind situations. i flow up with my speedflyer gin yak 16.5m² to the cloud above me.
than patrik landed so i did some steep turns downwards and i landed after 32minutes. it would have been possible to extend the flight for an hours or more for sure. crazy thermal lift…..
you can imagine our happy face and our body was full of body internal drugs like adrenaline and endorphine.
thx for this really nice day and weekend.
have a nice week

Kitesurfing Neusiedlersee

May 24th, 2010

hi windaddicts!
last 2 days we went to podersdorf for kitesurfing with the windgeschwindigkite crew
we had really two very good surfing days with good wind and on sunday we had warm weather too. after the last weeks of shit weather we enjoyed great summer surf feeling.
thx for the great time!

Speedflying Herndleck

May 13th, 2010

Hi Speedjunkies!
after a long time of not writing any posts on my site because i was doing a parachute course at the paraglyding school in ternberg with poscher hans and we opened our climbing school (Kletterkompetenzzentrum Camp Sibley) and doing some underwater works for the cablepark ausee, i have time to write this day.
first of all we had a very interesting and funny parachute training and i can recommend everyone to to a paraglyding course at ternberg. this is the best paraglyding school in austria!

unfortunately speedflying is not really legal so far, we bought such small stuff – a gin yak 16.5m² – that’s really hot!
the weight with the harness is about 3kg and it makes a lot fun!

This day Patrick and me we drove to ternberg for speedflying at the herndleck.
we hiked up to the top of the herndleck at 1026metres above sealevel.
there was some slope wind not much, but ok for starting. so we flew 3 times to the grassland before the rocks.
what a great rush and surge of adrenaline!

at the last time we had some following wind. so the landing was a little bit faster. nevertheless that was not a big problem for us with good landing technics like sliding on the wet grassland.
the cows there jumped away when they saw us – funny guys.

the next time when we have better slope wind we fly down to the landing near the enns.
life is so beautiful! feel the free spirit!

Kitesurfing Fuerteventura

April 21st, 2010

Buenos dias!
Last ten days eight people from Windgeschwindigkite (Hübl Experience, Rabi, Obsi, Geibs, Schoko, Chri, Maho and me) we flew to the island Fuerteventura in spain for kitesurfing and surfing.
La forte ventura does mean the big adventure – and we got big adventure….
We rented one Holiday House and one Appartment in the very quiet village Giniginamar. For Surfing we drove with our rented car and the “Mahoni mobil” to the Playa Barca at the Sotovento beach near Costa Calma on the east side of the coast. there is one big surf school from rené egli.
at summer time you have here perfect conditions from the northeasterly passat wind which get shifted by two mountains to a northwesterly wind and get stronger by the nozzle effect.
when the weather is not so good, there is southwesterly wind which we enjoyed.
in the winter time the best thing to do is surfing at the northern shore at el cotillo at punta blanca and punta de la tinosa. waves can be up to 5m heigh from november until march. but there is no rescue – so take care! more safe conditons you have at the flag beach in corralejo at the flag beach center.
the first day we had light wind conditions only for the flysurfer silberpfeil.
on monday we did some sightseeing tour to the beach garcey at the westcoast where the 220m long american star ship sank 1994 because of a big storm. unfortunately we could see only some small wreck parts.
please do not try to swim to the wreck because there are a lot of swirls under water.
the second day we had fine southwesterly – that is side shore. i needed a rescue service because i crashed my lines from the kite into a buoy. first i tried to swim back to the coast, but it was not so easy to swim back to the coast with my equipment. so i had to wink zthe rescue and we picked me up with his seadoo. this service cost 30€ and is very important when you get some troubles in the wavy conditons.
On the wednesday we had wind up to 55knots. we had to go onto the beach because we had no smaller stuff here to manage this strong winds. so we had to look up to the profi riders like danis from france. he flews an north vegas 7m² kite and did jumps up to 20m’s height and really crazy kiteloops – much respect and big up.
two hours later we could start our smallest kites and drove the lagoon which is very special here. you have strong wind and flat water from 10 to 50cm depth. that was the best thing on this trip. we tried some new jumps here – what a nice session.
on thursday and friday we had good conditions again at the lagoon and at the seaside. really wonderful, because if you feel tired from the waves, you can cross the 10m sandbank and jump into the lagoon where you can enjoy the flat water. muhaa
normally we had to fly back on saturday evening but the the airline cancelled our fligh because of the ash clouds from the island vulcan. so we had to stay for more days here in fuerte. shit happens…
on sunday there there was no wind and on monday we rented a longboard at the waveguru surf school in la pared and we did some surfing with our surf teacher “hübl experience”.
la pared is a very good and not so crowded surfspot for beginners up to the advanced guys.
on tuesday night we had to say good bye because we managed to get an flight to vienna instead of munich. so we got our “happy ending” – thanks to niki lauda 😉
and many thanks to the good cookers in our team and for the nice party at the fanta club in giniginamar with ocho rum e cuatro cola!
Hang loose!
Cya on the big waves dudes.
Adios!

Snowboardtour Grosser Priel

March 21st, 2010

Hi freaky Mountaineers!
Yesterday, Patrik and me we started at 11am with our big equipment from hinterstoder to the grosser priel with our snowboard an ski.
it was a very sunny hot day – spring is coming!!
we heard many times some low frequency noises from the avalanches around us.
the sky was so beautiful and was changed every minute.
at the brotfallscharte we had to climb on the rocks to the top of the brotfallscharte. there we built with stones an snow a bivouac place to get a good protection from the strong wind.
the sunset was amazing. alone in such a beautiful area – thats the way it is!
we cooked some goulash with our camping stove. the mountain dinner was delicious – thx patrik!
then we holed up into our sleeping bag. it was really warm inside the bivouac sack. the starry sky in the mountains is every time a great experience because here is no light pollution, you know.
i saw two meteoroids. amazing atmosphere.
then i slept until the sunrise at 5:50 more or less because of the strong storm up to 70km/h.
i needed half an hour to get up. we decided to climb up to the mountain top of the grosse priel. when we reached to top, the sun was shining. the big summit cross was completly renewed last year. after a while we climbed back over the ridge to our bivouac and had a good cereal breakfast. the sun warmed up our way down. the first 50m we climbed down but then we drove down deep and steep lines into the virgin snow. what a feeling!!
the last 300m’s was not easy to drive in the narrow pathes, but we managed it good.
at 11am we reached pretty well down our car in hinterstoder.
thanks for the nice mountain experience.
austria is so great
cya on the mountains

Snowkiting Bad Leonfelden

March 14th, 2010

hi railey wannabees!
this day neppi, patrik and me we drove to bad leonfelden in the beautiful mühlviertel for snowkiting.
we had northwesterly wind up to 30 knots. that meaned for us, a 12m² session with our north and jn kites.
we tried raileys, unhooked backrolls and many high jumps – muhaaaa
then a local dog joined us. he ran beside our snowkite and we had a lot of fun with this nice animal! he had a lot of conditon – respect!
we had also some nice slams this day – look for some slam pics….
after our long snowkite session we went to kastner for some delicious gingerbread, other cookies and coffe. thats the way….
have a nice weeekend and see you on the water as soon as possible 😉

Snowboardtour Grosser Brieglersberg

March 7th, 2010

Hi powderseekers!
This day i went to hinterstoder and climbed up with my snowboard to the grosser brieglersberg. thats 1420metres of altitude to go… unfortunately at the top it was very cloudy. i nearly fell into a doline. here is a huge kast area with a lot of caves and dolines…
then i had a really great powder session down to the beginning of the channel. i met the group of the av losenstein.
i went a second time up to the beginning of the deep and steep channel.
muha the weather was getting fine. the second time was a fine powder session too. i nearly had to breathe the snow, because my face was full of powder. amazing. There are worse things 😉
the winter is hitting its peak!
what a dream day!
cya on the deep and steep powder mountains

Kitesurfing Hamuliakovo

February 28th, 2010

Hi Dudes!
This day the whole surfaddicted crew (5 people) from upperaustria drove to hamuliakovo near bratislava in slovakia for surfing the southstorm. our first water session this year – Rock’n’roll!
In the first hour it was a superb north vegas 7m² session. then we used the 10m². at 2pm the wind got lower so we had to finish our first session in 2010.
i think this year we will drive more time to hamuliakovo because that’s real good surfing on a very good spot with chilling easy kitepeople in oppossite to podo or bb.
thx for this great surfday!
Hang Loose!

Snowboardtour Rinnerstein

February 27th, 2010

Hi powder addicted Boarders!
This day i went alone with the snowboard from the köblwirt in johnsbach to the rinnerstein. thats in front of the festkogel. the proper goal was the festkogel but at the top of the channel beside the rinnerstein the avalanche danger increased because of the steep mountain (40°) and the fresh snow fall from yesterday.
so i stopped here and enjoyed 30cm new powder – what an amazing feeling. boarding at this conditions is like flying….
there was no track to see so i had to build my own tack – thats hard work.
i only met patrik, all the others “freaks” went to the classical tour leobner i’ve heard 😉 Each to his own…
i went a second time from the bottom of the rinnerstein up to the top. but at the second time it got a lot more dangerous because of the increasing temperature. so without break i started the second powder rush. powdering down in such a nice calm mountain ambience was so great!!
the last metres of altitude down i got really wet and heavy snow condition.
It was a doozie!!
cya on the mountains again for sure 😉
