Gaspadar!
This sommer i did a mountain expedtion in china to the mustagh ata (7546m) with ruefa bergreisen.
my plan was to go up by skies to the summit and fly down with the speedglider.
the chances were about 30% to fly down from the top. nevertheless i wanted to try this action.
i got a new glider from swing – the hybrid sport 17.
so we started at 27th of july in munich and flew over moscow to bishkek in kirgisia.
our guide alex – we called him “manager” from the mountain agency tien shan travel picked us up at the airport on the morning and we drove directly to naryn which is a city on the silk road. on the next day we drove to the touragat pass (3752m) and entered china after many checkpoints (in kirgisa we had 4 to manage or wait….)
at the chinese boarder we had to carry all our luggage some meters over the border line to the already waiting truck.
fortunately the streets in china were better then in kirgisia so we had a more or nice time on the road with our new guide (mr. kong) from the mountain agency in kashgar.
after a x-ray session from the whole luggage at the chinese checkpoint we arrived at half past 7 in kashgar at our hotel. first we had to carry up our luggage to the room, but then we were happy to enjoy our first dinner at the chinese restaurant. a strange thing was, that it is normal too bring the drinks from the shops to the restaurant…. good idea – isn’t it?
we did nice and hot sight seeing in kashgar city and bought the rest for the expedition.
on saturday night suddenly there drove amor-cased water gun cars across the streets. on the morning we heard that there were some terror attacks from the uygur people with 8 murdered people. thats an ethnic minority group here. here in xinjiang region there are about 50 minority groups. you can imagine the different culture what you can see here. some days later there was an terror attack in kashgar with 14 murdered people. crazy. nobody recognised here in europe.
nevertheless we reached on the karakorum highway after a long travel the village subashi (3726m). at the evening we could see the massive mountain mustagh ata.
here we are…..
we had a nice dinner outside and enjoyed the great energy from the mountain. the night we slept in a yurt which was great and warm with our sleeping bags.
on tuesday the 1st of august the camels get packed and after breakfast we hiked in 4 hours to our basecamp (4530m). during the day the temperature rise up to 25°C. what a hot area here. but when clouds has covered the sky the temperature falled down rapidly…..
next stories coming soon – now its weekend.
Hi extreme summer chillers!
On Wednesday 24.7.2011 i start an Expedition to the Mustagh Ata (7546m) in China.
I fly to Bishkek in Kirgisia and we’ll drive on the silk road to china.
Then we do some walking with the camels to the base camp.
We have 3 weeks for climbing to the the summit with our skis.
Hopefully the wind is less and it will come from the right side then i will launch my new speed flyer. The new Hybrid Sport from Swing with 17m².
Have a look at the great line there! yihaaaaaaa
Actual tracking from Bernhard to the summit of Mustagh Ata.
Hi extreme winter addicted freaks.
Yesterday i hiked from hinterstoder above the brentnerkar to the kleiner hochkasten (2352m).
i had to carry my skiing equipment about 2hrs uphill.
at the hunting hut i had a discussion with a huntress. she said thats not a good idea to go there because of the chamois. but then she let me pass her 😉
then after the schoismauer i could walk with my skies up to the kleiner hochkasten.
at the mountain top i had a really good view. woww!
then i found a good starting place for my speed glider in a nice deep and steep channel.
the start was great and i had a great flight. the first flight is always a safety flight, but i will come again for sure 😉
This day i started at 5:30am with woif at hinterstoder and hiked up again to the kleiner hochkasten above the brentnerkar because of the good conditions.
we had a lot of fun hiking uphill. at the last third there was a big avalanche from the rocky Brandleck. uii we were lucky to passed this passage 5min before….
unfortunately the clouds got more and the wind too. so i started at the brentnerkar and had a great flight to the dietlalm.
thx for this special weekend 😉

Hi extreme motivated weekenders!
after the grosser pyhrgas session on friday i hiked on the same day at 6:45pm in the night from hinterstoder to the prielschutzhaus in 2 hrs.
i slept alone in the winterroom of the prielschutzhaus
at 6:20am i started on saturday with the skies to the grosser priel. the sunrise was really great!!
this day i took the crampons with me so it was really easy to climb up the brotfallscharte ;).
after 2:50 hrs i stood at the grosser priel summit. what a great feeling!! at the ridge there was a lot of strong southerly wind. so i had to be careful because of the strong wind which could blow me away…
then i looked for the starting place for my speedglider.
at the grosser priel side pre summit there was too much wind from the side, so i went to the brotfall where i could start more or less easy….
the wind was really gusty but it was no problem to flew over the prielschutzhaus into the valley where i landed at my “big” landing zone at the creek.
thx for this grandiose tour on my favourite mountain.

Hi extreme early morning walkers!
This weekend i did on saturday and sunday the schafskögel with my skis at the höss in hinterstoder.
i hiked up in the morning and had a really wonderful sunrise at the schafskögel with such great panorama from the priel area.
i couldn’t walk further because of my parachute course this and next weekend at the flugschule ternberg
you can imagine skiing down as the first person on the well prepared ski track was funny too….

Hi powder addicted People.
This day i drove to Hinterstoder for hiking up to the Großer Brieglersberg. Yesterday Patrick and me we hiked up until the steep part where we started our speed glider.
And this day i thought to me, i want to do the summit, otherwise our name summitsurfer will not fit 😉
ok i started at 7:10am at the Gasthaus Baumschlagerreith and reached the summit at nearly 12am. the weather was really great. there was about 20 to 30cm fresh powder snow…. i started my speed glider gin yak and flew downwards in 3mins to the poppenalm (1050m). what a nice line!
thx for this great winter day.

Hi extreme winter lovers!
Yesterday, Patrick and me we drove to the Almtalerhaus in Grünau (Almtal)
We hiked up with our skis on the backpack from the ground of the schermberg north wall to the welser hut over the normal route. the sun was shining but not at our place because of the northern side.
when we reached the ridge near the brotfallscharte we got sun too. so we had warm temperature but the wind was strong. brrr. at 1:15pm we reached the summit of großer priel (2515m). we had there a nice lunch on the wind protected southern side. what a great view after 5hours and 15 minutes of hard hiking. but every step was worth it 😉
at the großer priel summit we had too less snow for starting our speed glider so we hiked the ridge back and found a great starting place over a cliff.
what an amazing starting place.
the only problem we had was the fog which has suddenly covered the whole valley. we had to wait nearly two hours but that was not a problem because we had sun and an amazing view.
at 4pm we started our speedglider the swing spitfire 11m² with our skis. the start was tricky because we had to jump upon a cliff. when we flew the last sun rays shined to the western wall of the grosser priel. we needed only 3minutes and 30 seconds for flying down to the ground near the schermberg. we were so happy to managed this great winter tour.
thanks a lot for this adventure.
i wish you all the best wishes and a happy new year. 😉

Hi extreme mountain addicted People.
On Wednesday Martin and me we drove to Hinterstoder for doing a ski mountaineering tour to the grosser priel. we hiked up in more or less good snow. some clouds covered the grosser priel upon the schneeloch. we stopped at the beginning of the brotfallscharte gully. the wind was from the false direction and it was too much. so we drove downwards to the kühplan and there was a good starting place for our speed rider.
We flew downwards over the prielschutzhaus to the valley station. there was a nice small landing place on the streambed 😉
it was a great winter tour without summit.
i wish you a happy new year!
Take care and have much fun!

Hi extreme Snow Seekers!
On Tuesday Patrick and me we drove to the Bosruckhütte in Spital for doing a skimountaineering tour to the Scheiblingstein.
it was a really nice landscape with not the best snow conditions because of ice snow. nevertheless we reached the summit without a problem but there was too much wind, so we decided to ski downwards a little bit. then we found a great starting place for the speed rider. i had a fast speed riding session downwards the lange gasse to the Gstattmaier alp.
Then we had to walk uphill back to the bosruck hut.
thanks for the great tour.

Hi extreme christ childs!
This day Summit Surfer Patrick and me (Bernhard) we drove to Windischgarsten for Speed riding the Hoher Nock (1963m)
We had a nice ski mountaineering tour up to the top of the Hoher Nock. The southerly Foen was quite strong at the mountain top. the wind speed was about 60km/h. launching our speedglider with ski was too dangerous so we decided to drive down to the left channel. there we were able to start our swing spitfire 11m² speedglider. the flight was quite wobbleing because of the Fön. But we were happy that we didn’t need to ski down the rest because of the warm and wet snow.
Nevertheless it was a great day again!
I wish you Merry Christmas!
