Fixed rope route Drachenwand

September 26th, 2011

hi fixed rope route rookies!
yesterday andi, klara, marlene and me we drove to mondsee for climbing the fixed rope route drachenwand.
for marlene it was her first tour, so we decided to start later than normal. but we ended also in a big rush hour because of so many climbers in this famous tour.
nevertheless this tour was really great with lot of sun and fun and amazing views around the mondsee.
unfortunately i couldn’t start my speedglider ;(
so andi and me we hiked up to the exit for basejumping. muhaaaaaaaa that must be fun too ? ;))
dreams come true…

Mountaineering and Caving Neuner Kogel

September 26th, 2011

hi extreme death mountain paraglider wannabe’s.
last saturday and martin and me we drove to grünau im almtal for checking out a new discovered cave from martin – the “toagschmied höhle”.
we climbed up the sepp huber steig to the röllsattel and hiked without any path to the cave.
martin and and abseiled down about 12m to the ground. unfortunately that was the end. but that can happen while discovering caves.
then we hiked through a great karst land scape.
at the neuner kogel we did a small rest and then i tried to start my parachute 50m’s down from the summit. i made everything ready but then the wind ran off.
so i decided not to start and so we went down to the almsee which was not my favourite ending of this tour…
ok next time i will be earlier at the starting place.
when you want to start a parachute the best time is until half past 2 in the afternoon according to the local leo.
but with some beers and debreziner everything was forgotten 😉

Climb and Speed Flying in Eisenerz

September 11th, 2011

Hi extreme saturday climbers!
last day summit surfer klemens and me we drove to eisenerz with the plan to climb all fixed iron rope routes and fly with our speedglider from the summits.
in the morning at 6am we started at the gemeinde alp and hiked up to the start of the kaiserschild klettersteig. at 8:50 we reached the kaiserschild (2084m). the flight was really great beside the great wall and without wind. yihaaaa.
then we drove to the pfaffenstein parking lot where we started at 10:13 and climbed the eisenerzer klettersteig to the pfaffenstein (1865m) what we reached at 12:25. the start from the pfaffenstein was easy because klemens managed this start with his first trial 😉
at the landing we had to take care from the high voltage cable in the air but not problem for us.
then we drove to the leopoldsteiner see where we did a rest with some radler and some swimming.
at 3pm we started to the kaiser franz joseph klettersteig and had a nice hot climbing in the seemauer wall to the hochblasser (1771m).
at 17:20 we ended the climbing tour and hiked to the launching place. what a nice place there. muhaaa
the flight from the seemauer was really fine, but little bit short.
have a look to the video to get some impressions.

Mustagh Ata Ski-Expedition

August 31st, 2011

Gaspadar!
This sommer i did a mountain expedtion in china to the mustagh ata (7546m) with ruefa bergreisen.
my plan was to go up by skies to the summit and fly down with the speedglider.
the chances were about 30% to fly down from the top. nevertheless i wanted to try this action.
i got a new glider from swing – the hybrid sport 17.
so we started at 27th of july in munich and flew over moscow to bishkek in kirgisia.
our guide alex – we called him “manager” from the mountain agency tien shan travel picked us up at the airport on the morning and we drove directly to naryn which is a city on the silk road. on the next day we drove to the touragat pass (3752m) and entered china after many checkpoints (in kirgisa we had 4 to manage or wait….)
at the chinese boarder we had to carry all our luggage some meters over the border line to the already waiting truck.
fortunately the streets in china were better then in kirgisia so we had a more or nice time on the road with our new guide (mr. kong) from the mountain agency in kashgar.
after a x-ray session from the whole luggage at the chinese checkpoint we arrived at half past 7 in kashgar at our hotel. first we had to carry up our luggage to the room, but then we were happy to enjoy our first dinner at the chinese restaurant. a strange thing was, that it is normal too bring the drinks from the shops to the restaurant…. good idea – isn’t it?
we did nice and hot sight seeing in kashgar city and bought the rest for the expedition.
on saturday night suddenly there drove amor-cased water gun cars across the streets. on the morning we heard that there were some terror attacks from the uygur people with 8 murdered people. thats an ethnic minority group here. here in xinjiang region there are about 50 minority groups. you can imagine the different culture what you can see here. some days later there was an terror attack in kashgar with 14 murdered people. crazy. nobody recognised here in europe.
nevertheless we reached on the karakorum highway after a long travel the village subashi (3726m). at the evening we could see the massive mountain mustagh ata.
here we are…..
we had a nice dinner outside and enjoyed the great energy from the mountain. the night we slept in a yurt which was great and warm with our sleeping bags.
on tuesday the 1st of august the camels get packed and after breakfast we hiked in 4 hours to our basecamp (4530m). during the day the temperature rise up to 25°C. what a hot area here. but when clouds has covered the sky the temperature falled down rapidly…..
next stories coming soon – now its weekend.

Speed Flying Spitzkofel (2717m)

June 26th, 2011

hi dolomiten man wanna be’s 😉
yesterday patrick and me we hiked to the spitzkofel at 2717m in lienz.
this is the running route for the red bull dolomiten mann to the kuhbodentörl. the best time is about 1:23.
we needed for our first time with the weight of our speedgliders 3:00. so there is some difference to the best 😉
but we very lucky to be at the mountain top of the spitzkofel at about 5pm without any rain. there was an amazing view.
unfortunately there was northernly wind so we had to go downwards to the beginning of the fixed iron rope route. there we found a good starting place for our speedglider which is the starting place for the paragliders at the redbull dolomiten mann.
with our swing spitfire 11m² we fly downwards in really short time with a lot of fun and great impressions.
thx for this great mountain tour.

Paragleiten Schoberstein (1285m)

June 5th, 2011

Hi extreme hot day walk and fly guys!
This day i walked up with florian from the gasthaus klausriegler to the schobersteinhaus. we did there some doping with cider and at half past 11 we started our paraglider and we found nice uplift winds. yessa.
my maximum altitude height level was 1966m then i decided to fly to losenstein to my home for lunch. it was not a big deal because of such good thermal winds. great.
thx for this great flight.

Speed Flying Grosser Pyhrgas (2244m)

May 29th, 2011

This Day we went Speedflying to the Grosser Pyhrgas in Spital.
there was a lot of new snow above 1700metres of altitude.
at the first flight i had north westerly wind at about 40km/h.
at the second walk i met 2 nice mountaineering girls with running shoes walking the hofersteig in the snow from freistadt. big respekt!!
first i thought 2 times must be enough, but i got a sms from patrick they wanted to do a flight together with me. so i flew down to the Pyhrgassattel and hiked up with the other summitsurfers a 3rd time to the summit. oh you can imagine my tired tighs…
martin flew with his parachute to spital and patrick and me we flew with our speedglider the hasenbergrinne downwards as fast as possible 😉
what a great flight together.
so speedflying alone makes half as much fun and togehter is the ulitimate experience.
have fun together and enjoy your life.

Mountaineering Seehagelmauer (1809m)

May 29th, 2011

Hi extreme Cloud covered mountain seekers!
Yesterday Andi (Toagandi) and me we drove to Hopfing near Molln and hiked with our parachute equipment up to the Seehagelmauer for a sundown flight.
we needed 1:45 to the Feichtauhütte and then another 1:30 to the mountain top of the seehagelmauer.
there was a lot of fresh snow on the path.
the 2 feichtaulakes looked really great for swooping with the speedglider…
we reached the summit at 20:20. there was great light but also 50% of the mountains around were covered in clouds. shit.
so we hiked around and looked for more or less good starting place. with a speedglider a would habe been started for sure somewhere but with such a big paraglidewing you need a lof of space.
so we hiked downwards in a pebble gorge.
i took fortunately my gps with me so we were able to went back to the right way.
at 23:10 we reached totally exhausted and tired the car.
so the next time we have more time for launching our wings.
have a nice week
